Stephanie Bowerman, KINE 3345: Adapted Physical Activity professor featured on Rogers Daytime TV.
As part of the KINE 3345: Adapted Physical Activity course, Stephanie has been offering an excellent opportunity for her students to engage in in-community experiential education through a partnership with SkateABLE, an organization that offers skating lessons for kids with disabilities. Students in her course can choose to serve as volunteer coaches with the organization, where they get special training, and are required to design, implement and evaluate an individualized lesson plan for a young skater.
SkateABLE's president was recently interviewed on Rogers Daytime TV, and she mentioned this partnership in her interview. Minute 4:30 is when the partnership is mentioned: http://www.rogerstv.com/show?lid=12&rid=16&sid=126&gid=264876
The interview includes one of the parents of the kids, and her testimonial speaks to the importance of volunteers, our students in this program.
