The Athletic Therapy Certificate program (ATCP) is presently only accredited for the following method of entry:
- This program is embedded within the four-year York University Kinesiology Degree
- The ATCP is a three year certificate program and is not a degree on its own.
Students must apply to the York University, Kinesiology and Health Science program as a transfer student first, if applying from another institution. Students can apply to transfer to York from another institution at any stage of their program, but will need to speak to the Office of Admissions about the admission requirements for the Kinesiology and Health Science program and transfer credits.
Academic credits from another institution can only be assessed for transfer once an application to York has been submitted and once an offer of admission has been given.
Once a student at York, you will need to ensure that you have completed the admission requirements for Athletic Therapy before applying to the Athletic Therapy certificate program. This process can take between one to two years, which includes specific KINE requirements taken at York.
The Athletic Therapy Certificate program is three years in duration, no matter when you have started the program at York, whether you are in your 2nd or 4th years, it will take three additional years on top of that.
Example: If you apply after your first year in the KINE program (with transfer credits from your prior program) it will take you three years on top of that to complete all the mandatory certificate requirements along with the KINE degree requirements.
Please keep in mind that the Athletic Therapy Certificate stream is quite competitive. There are approximately 100 applicants and 20 offers which go out to students each year.
